It wasn’t long after I began shooting weddings that I received a message on Instagram from Kayla saying, “I wish you lived in Colorado! You’re at the top of my list of choices for wedding photography– I love all of your photos and wish you could be my photographer!” Before we knew it, we were full of excitement as we were booking, planning and dreaming about their upcoming wedding. It was an absolute joy getting to capture Kayla and Brad’s stunning wedding in the heart of Colorado.
It was really important to Brad that he first saw Kayla as she was walking down the isle during the ceremony. Before the ceremony, with a little extra coordination and communication, we went to the Garden of Gods to take wedding party and family photos. During this time, Kayla and Brad had the opportunity to sneak away for a few minutes and have a “first touch.” I had them both stand on opposite sides of a rock and they were able to share a sweet moment together before the ceremony, just the two of them, without having to see each other. Since Kayla and Brad didn’t have the opportunity to take portraits together before the ceremony in Garden of the Gods, something that was also very important to them, we decided to take full advantage of the next morning and had a “day after” bridal session. It was so wonderful getting to spend extra time with Kayla and Brad after their wedding and capture magic with them in such a stunning place like the Garden of Gods.
It has been a few months since the wedding (and a hot sec since blogging) but looking back through the photos, you can still feel every single emotion– the laughter, the tears, the intimacy. Kayla and Brad became such wonderful friends and I am so thankful that they chose and entrusted me to capture their day.
